The new compounding technology will aid TRS in transforming its powder products \u2013 which are produced using recycled end-of-life tires \u2013 into valuable compounds at an industrial scale.<\/p>\n<p>TRS\u2019s performance materials require a specific and proprietary compounding process of TPE\/TPU-based resins with recycled rubber powder. The process helps to increase circularity in multiple sectors, for an array of different applications within the automotive and construction industries.<\/p>\n<p>The company, based in Pr\u00e9verenges, conducted an extensive amount of market and technology research before choosing the Compeo compounding technology. It was chosen due to its unique combination of powerful, low shear mixing with a conical discharge pump unit for pressure build-up. BUSS\u2019s technical knowledge gained in the handling of elastomers \u2013 and the possibility of a pilot scale production campaign at their campus in Pratteln, Switzerland \u2013 aided TRS in the development and evaluation of its own products, ahead of TRS commissioning its own compounding plant at the start of 2022.<\/p>\n<p>TRS and BUSS will work together to grow the platform on an international scale by installing more compounding plants. By implementing BUSS\u2019s new compounding solution, the duo aims to contribute to the issue of approximately 1.5 billion tires being scrapped each year globally.
