This new high-performance Advan Fleva V701 from Yokohama has an A for wet grip on the EU tire label and is said to offer excellent handling. It is also said to set a new standard in the market segment in terms of noise and rolling resistance.
Development for the tire took around three years, with benchmarking carried out against competitor tires including the Bridgestone Potenza Adrenlin RE003 and Dunlop Direzza DZ102.
Extensive simulation formed an integral part of the development focusing on the tread design, compound and construction, as well as the complete tire. Lab testing also played a key role. Further tests took place at Yokohama’s D-PARC proving ground in Japan, at TTCA in Thailand and at the Nürburgring in Germany, with vehicles including a Mercedes Benz A-Class, a Mini Cooper, a Toyota 86 and a Volkswagen Golf.
The A-rated tire will be produced at Yokohama’s state-of-the-art facilities in the Philippines and in Japan in 43 sizes ranging from 195/55 R15 to 255/30 R20.
