Cooper Tire recently launched several new products including a new high-performance SUV tire, the Cooper Zeon 4XS Sport, which is said to provide high levels of grip, with an A rating for wet grip on the EU label, as well as improved handling.
Brand ambassador David Coulthard tested different variants of the tire at the Vallelunga circuit, located 20 miles outside of Rome in Italy, during development in order to provide direction for the final construction and compound selected for the tire.
Large circumferential grooves in the tread clear water quickly and efficiently from the contact patch to reduce the risk of aquaplaning in the wet, while a large central rib increases the tire’s feel and driving response.
Using a new algorithm, the tread blocks are split into different sized blocks to reduce harmonic noise. The edges of the individual tread blocks are also chamfered to help eliminate uneven wear and to reduce contact noise on the road.
In addition, molds for Cooper’s high-performance tire range utilize the latest technology in spring venting design for a cleaner and higher quality looking tire.
