Marangoni Retreading Systems is to acquire 25% of Leader Rubber’s stock, strengthening the long-standing partnership between the two companies.
Leader Rubber has been the exclusive distributor of Marangoni’s Ringtread system to the South African market for over six years, and is a leading manufacturer of precured tread strips, OTR uncured rubber and consumables and machinery required for the retreading process.
This agreement is the culmination of a partnership between the two companies that has been ongoing for several years, and its objective is to further strengthen the Ringtread system, develop agreements with local retreaders and grow exports to markets in Sub-Saharan Africa. It also focuses on more efficient information sharing to further support Leader’s technological and manufacturing expertise.
Marangoni believes South Africa is an ideal location due to the size of the domestic market, which totals two million retreads and new tires, its proximity to fast-growing markets, and easy access to the Gulf region.
