Hankook Europe Technical Center (ETC) has opened a new branch office at the Nürburgring racetrack. It includes a workshop to provide optimal conditions for the company to conduct the real-world testing and development of racing and high-end tires.
The new Nürburgring workshop is in Meuspath in the district of Ahrweiler, southwest Germany. It was officially opened in December 2021 but has been operating unofficially for the last few months.
Hankook considered the growth in the volume of its original equipment used on high-performance vehicles and decided to invest in a dedicated field office within the vicinity of the grueling Nürburgring track.
With Hankook providing the original equipment for OEMs such as Porsche, BMW and Audi, the tire manufacturer spends much time conducting extensive tests of its ultra-ultra-high-performance tires on the demanding turns of the Nordschleife. The circuit offers ideal conditions for the final testing of Hankook tires and ensures the products meet the differing requirements of customers and multiple OEMs.
“Opening our workshop in the immediate vicinity of the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife enables us to carry out performance and load tests much more efficiently. These are increasingly important in the field of high-performance road vehicles,” commented Andreas Pürschel, head of the European Hankook test team at the Research and Development Center in Hannover. “This enables us to ensure that we offer our customers the best possible products with the highest level of performance.”
