Bridgestone Corporation has announced its inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) for the second consecutive year and fifth time overall, and for the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index (DJSI Asia Pacific) for the 14th consecutive year. These sustainability indices are compiled by S&P Dow Jones Indices, evaluating over 10,000 companies based on quantitative sustainability metrics related to environmental, social, governance and economic factors.
Each year, companies ranking in the top 10% of their respective industries are highlighted. In 2023, 321 out of 2,500 major companies made it to DJSI World, and 156 out of 600 in the Asia-Pacific region were selected for DJSI Asia Pacific. Bridgestone secured a place in both indexes within the Automobile and Components industry group for the current year.
According to Bridgestone, it has integrated sustainability into its core management and business strategies. Guided by the ‘Bridgestone E8 Commitment’, the company is working toward its stated vision: “Toward 2050, Bridgestone continues to provide social value and customer value as a sustainable solutions company”.
The company aims to transform its Sustainability Business Model into a regenerative business model, focusing on achieving carbon neutrality and a circular economy throughout the entire value chain, encompassing the production, sale, use, renewal and sourcing of raw materials.
In the 2023 Corporate Sustainability Assessment conducted by S&P Global, the company received full points for Resource Efficiency and Circularity, Waste, and Transparency & Reporting.
Bridgestone attributes its inclusion in the 2023 DJSI World and DJSI Asia Pacific to various initiatives outlined in the Bridgestone 3.0 Journey 2023 Integrated Report.
