‘Sustainability in Uncertainty – the Challenges Ahead’ was the theme for Apollo Tyres’ recently held Global Partners’ Summit 2021, which took place virtually and involved its global raw material business partners.
The company stated that it received an overwhelming response to the summit, with over 700 participants joining from approximately 270 organisations, across 30 different countries.
Pushing the agenda that its suppliers must be an integral part of the drive toward sustainability, its procurement team presented the ‘Apollo Sustainability Procurement Vision’, along with its plan for increased use of recycled and renewable materials going forward.
Meanwhile, a sustainability panel, comprising its global chief sustainability officers and Stefano Savi, director of the Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR), discussed the benefits of partnerships and how a collaborative approach between stakeholders can achieve circularity in the business.
Apollo requested that its raw material business partners take a pledge to pursue the ‘Go Green’ agenda, ramp-up their capacities, de-risk their supply chains and continue focusing on quality and delivery of their supplies.
As part of the summit, the Apollo Sustainability Awards 2021 were presented to Thai Eastern Group, Thailand, and Oriental Carbon & Chemicals and Birla Carbon, India, for their efforts toward sustainability.
