Returning to Tire Technology Expo for another year, Desmasa is displaying its fully automated winding system for the tire industry.
Central to this automated system is the patented Automatic Liner Manipulator, which effectively manages tension control during winding and unwinding processes using a mobile roller column.
Carlos Cuevas Padilla, robotic area and business development director at Desmasa, said, “This is our third year attending the fair and every year we are presenting new cutting-edge technology. We think that this is the most important trade fair in the tire sector. It is the perfect opportunity to meet our current and future customers and see our partners.”
The system on show features a feeding turntable positioned at ground level, facilitating easy handling by either an AGV or operator. This turntable offers loading and unloading positions, with the flexibility of 360° positioning. Furthermore, the system incorporates an automatic loading and unloading reel/cassette mechanism.
Padilla continued, “The double rotating table allows reels to be changed easily using an AGV or an operator. In addition, it allows users to always have a new reel prepared and ready for winding, so waiting times are eliminated. These rotating tables are used for both loading and unloading the reels.
“Due to the weight of the reels and carts (which can reach 700kg), handling and positioning can become complicated and unsafe processes for the operator. With our rotary table we facilitate this movement, completely automating the process thanks to an AGV that does not require an operator to handle it.”
For added functionality, optional peripherals such as a machine-vision camera for production monitoring and a material cutter can also be integrated into the system.
