Uster Q-Bar 2, being showcased by exhibitor Uster Technologies at booth C616, is designed to monitor the weaving process on tire cord looms and detect defects. This in-line inspection system offers full process control, aiming to enhance first-quality output and reduce waste.
Traditionally, tire cord weaving follows the rule that higher quality entails higher production costs. However, Uster Q-Bar 2 challenges this norm by elevating tire cord quality through automated and precise defect detection.
“Any irregularity is already identified in the weaving process and allows customers to prevent defects proactively at the earliest stage possible,” a spokesperson explained.
By identifying irregularities during the weaving process, users can take proactive measures to prevent defects early on, thus conserving raw materials and minimizing the production of second-quality cords.
The system is designed to address issues beyond typical weaving challenges such as oil stains or subtle imperfections like transparent lubricants. It also provides real-time display of fault images and positions, documenting each irregularity for subsequent classification and grading purposes.
The spokesperson added, “We are exhibiting at Tire Technology Expo to present Uster Technologies’ automated inspection systems for tire cord (on loom: Uster Q-Bar 2; in-line: Uster EVS Fabriq Vision N). We provide a practical case at the booth, describing the complete solution of Uster Technologies AG. The solutions Q-Bar 2 and Uster EVS Fabriq Vision N effectively automate tire cord inspection at both ends of the production.”
