Chinese tire manufacturer Sentury acknowledged 17 outstanding employees and three outstanding groups at a recent ceremony.
The awards were part of a Sentury initiative to encourage positivity, creativity and efficiency among staff and to build a positive company culture. To qualify for an award, employees had to have been at the company for at least a year, show excellent skills and a positive attitude, be a good team worker and willing to learn new skills, comply with company policy, and make special contributions or deliver innovations.
To be eligible, groups needed to have seen no production accidents in a year, and for group members to show good safety awareness. They needed to demonstrate consistent product quality, no issues with products, compliance with company policy, and group members who worked well together and had not been penalized by the company. Group work needed to be well organized across shifts, equipment correctly stored and the office clean.
Each outstanding employee received RMB3,000 (US$475), the chance to attend an international tire expo, and a paid overseas trip for two family members. Sentury employees acknowledged as being outstanding are also more likely to be promoted. Outstanding groups won RMB9,000 (US$1,430) in cash.
In recent years, Sentury has taken great strides in terms of human resources. Retention of highly skilled employees is rising and skill levels have improved significantly.
