Einride’s electric T-pods are to be deployed at Michelin’s sites in Clermont-Ferrand, France, in 2020.
The roll-out, which includes digitizing selected transportation flows on Einride’s platform, will happen in two major phases. The first will be transporting goods at one of Michelin’s facilities, and the second will see the electric trucks on public roads to transport goods between different Michelin sites in the city.
“I am proud that a global leader like Michelin chose Einride. We share the same mission and I look forward to working together to introduce a sustainable, safe and efficient solution that can help transform the way Michelin transports goods, drastically reducing CO₂ emissions,” said Robert Falck, CEO and founder of Einride.
The deal was initiated by Michelin’s supply-chain department as part of the tire maker’s call for action for more innovative and sustainable goods mobility.
