VW’s ID. Buzz campervan and ID. Buzz Cargo van will be fitted with tires from Goodyear’s portfolio as original equipment, consisting of summer, winter and all-season tires and including the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5, UltraGrip Performance + and Vector 4Seasons Gen-3.
The ID. Buzz features an electric powertrain that is estimated to offer 402km of range from its 77kWh battery pack, aided by Goodyear’s tires, which have been designed to provide reduced rolling resistance while still delivering the required level of performance.
Chosen for its dry- and wet-weather handling characteristics, the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 will be fitted to the electric van in 18in size. The tire has been engineered to provide efficiency – a key requirement for EVs – while also being comfortable and quiet for vehicle occupants.
Selected in 18in and 20in fitments, Goodyear’s UltraGrip Performance + is designed to provide high levels of grip in dry and snow-covered conditions. It features an optimized tread pattern to reduce wear and the chance of aquaplaning.
Goodyear’s UltraGrip Performance + winter tire is designed to give optimum performance in snow and ice while maintaining a strong level of grip in dry conditions. Available on 18 and 20in rims, the tire includes features that yield excellent braking distances on snow, optimized tread wear and reduced risk of aquaplaning. Furthermore, the UltraGrip Performance + is Three Peak Mountain Snowflake certified.
For versatility, Volkswagen has chosen Goodyear’s Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 tire as an all-season option for the electric vehicle. The original equipment will be fitted in a 235/60R18 on the front axle and a 255/55R18 on the rear.
“We are privileged to have been selected by Volkswagen to supply the tires for the ID. Buzz,” explained Hans Vrijsen, managing director of consumer OE at Goodyear EMEA. “With the three tires available, we have every condition covered. As an EV, we have put extra consideration into minimizing rolling resistance, and with electrification being a key part of Goodyear’s strategy, we have a wide range of tires suited to the demands and performance of electric cars.”
