To deliver maximum performance on tough terrain, Pirelli will supply its Scorpion All Terrain Plus as original equipment for the Porsche 911 Dakar, marking the first time that Porsche will specify an off-road tire for the 911 model.
The reinterpreted 911 model has been developed by the German OEM for off-road use with the Scorpion All Terrain Plus selected because of its durable design. The tire maker undertook a development program which drew knowledge from its experience producing Ultra-High-performance tires to ensure the adapted product would deliver both support and resistance on challenging surfaces, in addition to high-performance levels.
Further research and development by Pirelli resulted in a new range of compounds being used for the first time within the tire, which help to provide performance on both loose surfaces and on normal roads. The manufacturer also strengthened and optimized the tire’s structure to improve the contact patch.
Unlike the standard Scorpion All Terrain Plus, the newly developed version of the tire features a different tread pattern to deliver performance in dry conditions such as deserts without compromising stability and safety.
In addition to the off-road tire, Pirelli’s P Zero summer and P Zero Winter tires are also offered as original equipment for the Porsche 911 Dakar.
