Pirelli has created six new tires for the new Lamborghini Urus, ranging in sizes from 21in to 23in. This includes three families of product – the P Zero, P Zero Corsa, and the Scorpion.
The biggest challenge for Pirelli’s engineers during development was how to work with the conflicting demands, for good levels of grip, traction on snow, resistance to potential lacerations during off-road driving, and wear resistance.
The work focused in particular on compound and tread pattern, both of which have been designed to provide maximum grip as well as optimal flexibility.
Through creating a more open pattern by leaving out some tread blocks, for example, the new tread enables good handling off-road on gravel, while providing high levels of dry and wet handling to tackle more conventional surfaces safely.
