As part of the ongoing collaboration between Pirelli and Porsche, the tire manufacturer has been selected as the original equipment provider for the new Cayenne.
The latest version of the sporting SUV offers P Zero tires for all wheel sizes ranging from 20-22in. Pirelli has equipped the Cayenne since its original version in 2002, and Porsche has now approved the new P Zero, P Zero Corsa and Scorpion Winter 2 tires developed for low-temperature driving.
The Pirelli P Zero is designed for better drivability, steering precision, stability and safety, even in emergency maneuvers. All sizes have attained the highest rating on the European label for wet braking, particularly at high speeds. Pirelli reports that the tire is engineered to support the high torque and loads generated by the vehicle.
The Pirelli P Zero Corsa, chosen for sports and track driving, is derived from the P Zero Corsa that contributed to the Porsche Cayenne GT’s record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 2021. The latest version for the new Cayenne is crafted with tread compounds from motorsport, developed by Pirelli for the world’s fastest cars.
The newest Porsche Cayenne is among the first vehicles to be equipped with a specific Pirelli Scorpion Winter 2 tire approved for the winter season, covering all wheel sizes. Pirelli’s engineers faced the challenge of ensuring safety at low temperatures and on snow while maintaining high performance on dry and wet surfaces, with the same sporting characteristics as a summer tire. To achieve this, Pirelli’s R&D department created a dedicated winter compound that is claimed to provide driving comfort and substantial grip in extreme conditions.
From the initial Cayenne model to the present day, Pirelli has collaborated with Porsche to develop tires that align with the evolution of its models, including hybrid variants like the Cayenne S Hybrid, Cayenne S E-Hybrid (a plug-in hybrid version) and the current Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid.
