Hankook Tire & Technology is equipping the new Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé with the UUHP ultra ultra high performance Ventus S1 evo Z. The tire has been specifically designed to enhance the performance and handling of the all-wheel-drive sports car, which can produce up to 430kW (585hp).
Key features of the UUHP tire are its bespoke sports pattern and modified tread mixture, designed to ensure maximum grip even in extreme driving conditions. The tire also features an extra-wide tread and a reinforced aramid hybrid cap ply, which helps maintain stability and performance at high speeds, particularly on dry surfaces. The aramid material is designed to prevent the tire from expanding due to centrifugal forces.
The new tread mixture includes more silica, to improve grip and rigidity in various weather conditions while enhancing braking performance. Hankook says the modified mixture also enables the tire to withstand high temperatures from extreme use. 
Bearing the “MO1” label (Mercedes-AMG Original) on its sidewall, the tire is approved as original equipment for the GT Coupé. Its development was completed in just eight months, a shorter timeframe than the usual two years, and included testing on the Nürburgring Nordschleife track. The tire and vehicle achieved a top speed of 190mph (305.77 km/h) and an average speed of around 93mph (150 km/h) during these tests. The tire carries a speed index of (Y), indicating its suitability for such high-speed conditions.

The tires are supplied in a size 295/35 ZR20 (105Y) XL for the front and 305/35 ZR20 (107Y) XL for the rear, and are produced at the Hankook plant in Rácalmás, Hungary.
