Bridgestone Americas, a provider of premium tires and sustainable mobility solutions, has been selected by Maserati to develop bespoke 20in tires for its first all-electric SUV, the Maserati Grecale Folgore.
This collaboration continues the long-standing partnership between the two brands, which previously collaborated on the Maserati MC20 and the Maserati Grecale.
The custom-developed Bridgestone Potenza Sport Enliten tires are designed to extend the EV’s driving range and deliver improved handling performance in dry and wet conditions. The Maserati tires incorporate Bridgestone’s Enliten technology, which Bridgestone says provides very low rolling resistance, achieving a best-in-class EU label A grade. This helps to extend the Grecale Folgore’s range to 500km.
The Maserati Grecale Folgore, along with its custom Bridgestone tires, was designed and produced in Italy.
Bridgestone used its Virtual Tire Development technologies in conjunction with Maserati’s driving simulator to create and test the bespoke tire in a digital environment. This approach aims to reduce physical prototyping and testing, and cut raw material consumption and carbon emissions.
Steven De Bock, VP of original equipment (OE) at Bridgestone EMEA, said, “The Grecale Folgore is a historic launch for Maserati on its pioneering electrification journey, and we’re very proud to help bring its performance to life with Bridgestone tires. We both have a strong commitment to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles; it’s a great moment to see our collaboration break new ground in electric mobility.”
