The Dunlop SportSmart TT tire has been selected as the original equipment for BMW’s 2023 S 1000 RR superbike which has been developed for use on the road or racetrack.
To complement the S 1000 RR’s latest features, Dunlop’s SportSmart TT benefits from NTEC RT technology which enables the rear pressures to be lowered when the motorcycle is used on track. This enlarges the tire’s contact patch and delivers a much higher level of grip. Additionally, the tire’s tread groove pattern, Speed Vent Tread, works by opening and closing during turns to better dissipate heat.
For the front version of the tire, Dunlop has redeveloped the SportSmart TT’s dynamic mold profile to find an optimal balance between low steering effort and a high level of turn in grip. This results in better feedback and ensures rider confidence when cornering or braking.
The Dunlop SportSmart TT is fitted to the 2023 BMW S 1000 RR in a 120/70ZR17 size for the front wheel, and a 190/55ZR17 or 200/55ZR17 for the rear.
“We developed SportSmart TT to give riders reassuring and fun handling on the road along with race tire-like performance on the track,” explained Miguel Morais, original equipment manager, Dunlop Motorcycle Europe. “As such, it perfectly complements the philosophy of the new BMW S 1000 RR, which similarly links back to BMW’s own motorsport heritage and success. We’re proud that BMW chose Dunlop SportSmart TT as an original equipment fitment for this exciting, upgraded model.”
