Audi’s latest S3 model features Falken’s super-ultra high-performance (SUHP) tire, the Azenis RS820.
The S3, with standard quattro all-wheel drive and torque splitter, produces 333hp and 420nm of torque, which requires a high-performance tire, such as the Falken Azenis RS820.
The Azenis RS820 is crafted for precise handling, stability and control in various driving conditions. It has an asymmetric tread pattern, which includes four circumferential tread grooves, and an improved shoulder design designed to ensure increased road contact and lateral stability on dry surfaces.
Drawing from Falken’s motorsport technology, the tire incorporates a hybrid aramid reinforcement material and an optimized belt ply for even pressure distribution.
The circumferential tread ribs have been designed for better lateral grip during cornering and stable straight-line performance, and wide and deep grooves have been incorporated to help to displace water, reducing the risk of aquaplaning.
Falken’s 4D Nano Design technology has been used to create compounds with lower wear rates to extend the tire’s lifespan. Weight-saving measures in both construction and compound were also explored to meet the demands of high-performance vehicles.
“We are proud that our new Azenis RS820 is the first choice for the new Audi S3,” said Christian Stolting, OE sales director at Falken Tyre Europe. “Right from the start, we aimed at designing a tire that combines dynamic driving, agile handling and a powerful performance. Azenis RS820 meets the strict requirements of Audi’s enthusiastic engineers and showcases Falken’s abilities in the SUHP range.
The 235/35 R19 Falken Azenis RS820 tires are fitted to both the S3 Sportback and S3 Saloon. Falken has already introduced 38 sizes of the Azenis RS820 model to the European market. Other sizes will be introduced soon, the company said.
