Apollo Tyres has launched the Vredestein Traxion CropCare, its first VF (Very-High Flexion) sprayer tire. The new tire has been engineered for trailed and self-propelled sprayers.
Initially available in two sizes (VF 380/90 R46 and VF 380/105 R50), the tire will go on sale in early 2025. Apollo says the tires will set new standards for stability, self-cleaning and long life in the crop tire segment.
Arable farmers and contractors rely on this type of tire for trailed and self-propelled crop sprayers, where a narrow tread is required to drive between crop rows. The tire must enable stable driving behavior while managing the lateral forces that occur because of the sprayer’s high center of gravity.
The Vredestein Traxion CropCare features a steel-belted radial carcass, a ‘stabilizer ring’ and a ‘bead stabilizer’ that reportedly enhance lateral stiffness by 30% compared with key competitor tires. The result is highly stable and accurate driving behavior.
Sprayer tires must be wear resistant to maximize lifespan in challenging conditions, including higher-speed on-road driving and the use of four-wheel steering. The Vredestein Traxion CropCare features a new iteration of the Vredestein Traxion tread design to deliver high levels of durability and an even pattern of wear across the tread.
“This product will be an important addition to our VF agricultural portfolio, ensuring we have highly competitive solutions across all key categories,” commented Guido Boerkamp, head of off-highway tires Europe at Apollo Tyres.
