Toyo Tires has unveiled the Proxes Sport 2, a max-performance summer tire designed for electric sports cars, CUVs and SUVs. The tire has been optimized for spirited driving, offering precise handling and grip.
It features an innovative tread compound, a refined tread design and an advanced casing to maximize wet and dry traction while improving cornering stability and reducing stopping distance compared to the Proxes Sport it replaces.
Toyo says the new Proxes Sport 2 incorporates a redesigned profile shape to enhance cornering traction along with the addition of new dual silica compounds on the inside and outside of the tire. The flexible inner compound adapts to varying road surfaces for optimal grip, while the more rigid outer compound resists deformation, boosting cornering performance.
The asymmetric tread pattern combined with the dynamic taper design element ensures even contact with the road to maximize acceleration, braking and cornering performance. The tires offer a quiet ride while reducing rolling resistance to limit the impact on fuel or range.
“The Proxes Sport 2 boasts a 15% shorter stopping distance in wet conditions and 10% shorter on dry surfaces along with improved handling performance over its predecessor, the Proxes Sport,” said Kevin Arima, senior manager, consumer products, Toyo Tire USA Corp.
The new Proxes Sport 2 tire will be produced in over 75 sizes with 17 to 22-inch wheel diameters in Y and (Y) speed ratings, carrying a 25,000 mile treadwear warranty and a 45 day/500 mile trial offer.
The Proxes Sport 2 will be available from February 2025 and popular fitments include the Audi SQ5, BMW M Models, Ford Mustang Dark Horse, Tesla Model X and the Toyota Supra GR.
