Pirelli North America has launched a new portfolio of all-terrain tires dubbed the Scorpion XTM. The new line is designed to meet the demands of electric, plug-in hybrid and internal combustion engine trucks and off-road vehicles.
The Scorpion line has been iconic for Pirelli in the SUV segment, with a reputation for striking a balance between performance and comfort. With the introduction of the XTM, Pirelli is promising to deliver off-road capability specifically engineered to meet the rugged demands of all-terrain driving.
The XTM stands for extreme performance, featuring aggressive styling and advanced technology. It is designed to meet the needs of North American drivers, and engineered for the most demanding environments, including snowy conditions, signified by the 3-Peak Mountain Snowflake rating for winter performance.
The Scorpion XTM for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles is designed with Pirelli’s proprietary ELECT technology, emphasizing low rolling resistance and noise reduction to maximize range and efficiency for electric vehicles. For IC-engine vehicles, the emphasis is on robust off-road grip, durability and highway comfort for trucks.
The XTM features an aggressive, high-void tread pattern that excels in off-road conditions like dirt, gravel and mud. The radical sidewall design with reinforced shoulder is engineered to provide added protection from obstacles. This combination is optimized for maximum traction and durability for off-road adventures, making it the go-to tire for extreme off-road performance and on-road stability, according to Pirelli.
The tires also come with a 55,000-mile (88,500km) limited warranty. “We recognize the importance of meeting regional demands, and the XTM is designed to do exactly that, delivering exceptional performance across the diverse terrains and conditions that drivers in this region encounter,” said Claudio Zanardo, CEO of Pirelli North America.
