Pirelli has released details of its latest tire offering, the P Zero Race 4S, which is claimed to offer durability, smoothness, grip and a high level of performance in race cycling.
Produced at the renovated Bollate plant in Italy, the clincher tire has been designed specifically for road bicycles and delivers the same all-round characteristics as its predecessor, the P Zero Velo 4S.
Released as part of the P Zero Race family, the new tire benefits from Pirelli’s SmartEVO proprietary compound, which features a ternary blend of polymers with so-called intelligent behavior. The compound works to provide a higher level of grip and better rolling resistance and reactivity.
Pirelli engineers have enhanced the tread pattern and compound qualities to ensure the tire is suitable for use all year round. The tread pattern has been optimized in terms of the angles, depth, number and distance of the company’s flash sipes to improve grip levels on uneven and slippery surfaces.
The new revisions have also enhanced performance in cold weather and increased durability and reliability in summer scenarios.
Furthermore, the Race 4S features a casing that has been adapted to suit the new wider rim standards. The wider and shorter footprint helps improve puncture protection and cornering control.
Pirelli’s P Zero Race 4S is currently available in sizes 26-622 and 28-622. Wider sizes and a TLR version are scheduled for release later in the season.
