Tire maker Pirelli has announced the production of a tailor-made P Zero tire for application to the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition.
Following a technical collaboration, the tire manufacturer produced a P Zero tire in the company’s Ultra High Performance range to deliver both driveability and comfort while maintaining the vehicle’s sporty characteristics.
With specially developed compounds and structures, the P Zero tire for fitment to the all-electric SUV benefits from a low rolling resistance to increase vehicle range, and reduced noise levels to improve comfort. In both wet and dry conditions, the tire provides a high grip level to handle the instant torque of the electric motor. A specific structure has also been introduced to handle the added weight of the batteries.
The tailor-made tires have been developed in a 245/45R20 103Y XL size, with an Elect marking on the sidewall to show they are specifically for electric and hybrid vehicles.
