Hankook has launched the SmartControl TW01 winter tire for trailer axles.
The inner three ribs of the five-rib tread on this new winter tire are equipped with multi-3D sipes, which are said to provide high levels of braking performance on wet, snow and ice-covered roads. They also provide the tread blocks with a high degree of stability, which results in uniform tread wear and increased mileage and fuel efficiency. The four main tread grooves, which are designed in a zigzag pattern, offer improved lateral stability. In addition, they ensure optimal water displacement, which reduces the risk of aquaplaning on wet or slushy roads.
The addition of a particularly cold-resistant (low Tg) synthetic rubber material to the tread compound ensures that it does not harden, even in extremely low outdoor temperatures.
Hankook’s new SmartControl TW01 winter tire for truck trailers is available now in size 385/65 R22.5.
