The current rush of tire manufacturers releasing winter tires continues with Firestone announcing its first all-season tire for light truck vehicles in the European market, the Vanhawk Multiseason.
The company says its latest tire is designed to perform year-round in all weather conditions, and is targeted at small- to medium-sized fleet operations and private van drivers. It claims the new tire offers optimized fuel efficiency, achieving an EU label C-grade in most sizes, thanks to a balanced tread pattern stiffness that delivers robust performance in dry conditions, as well as solid mileage.
With a tread design that applies optimized edges and sipes, Firestone says the tire combines its fuel-efficiency performance with winter-readiness. These features are combined with a compound designed for good performance in the snow, which is further enhanced thanks to a development process that benefited from extensive use of simulation, validated in field tests. This is evidenced by the tire’s Three Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) and mud and snow (M+S) markings, making it compliant with all winter legislation in Europe.
The new tire has also obtained an EU label B-grade in wet grip. Firestone notes this is down to a symmetrical tread pattern that applies longitudinal grooves to maximize water evacuation and features nanoselective compound mixing technology, giving enhanced performance in the wet and snow.
