BKT has announced a pair of new tires specifically designed to meet the needs of agricultural mixed use – a sector that requires operational efficiency on farming land and excellent performance in woodland areas.
The two tires – ForestMax (radial) and ForestLand (cross-ply) have been designed to meet the typical needs of rural applications, and specified with a focus on reliability, safety and versatility.
“We have been looking for a solution that meets the demands of farming businesses alternating between field applications and more strenuous activities, such as operations in woodland and forest areas,” said Denis Piccolo, product manager for agriculture tires at BKT Europe. “These two new tires stand out for their adaptability for use on variable and rough terrains with plenty of branches, woody scraps, roots, stones and debris that might damage unsuitable fittings. That is not the case with ForestMax and ForestLand – two solutions to cope with the varying operational needs of these two environments.”
Robustness and cut and chip resistance under the toughest operating conditions were key design priorities for the two new tires. ForestMax features a specially developed tread compound and a steel-belted structure that reduce the risk of punctures in woodland while offering excellent traction and stability on rough and uneven terrain, thanks to a strong, open shoulder. ForestLand has a special polyester casing and a strong sidewall, ensuring a long product life.
The combination of tread resistance and shoulder design grants the ForestMax self-cleaning properties, making it suitable for some agricultural operations with tractors, such as soil tillage and stone crushing. The ForestLand’s open shoulder provides high levels of traction on soft soils, while the stiff, reinforced tread lugs ensure good grip on any terrain.
