Michelin is set to introduce a new series of motorcycle tires, which will be available from January 2024. The three new tires were unveiled at the EICMA trade show in Milan, Italy, in November.
The Michelin Power 6 was designed to cater to a broad spectrum of sports motorcycle users seeking a blend of sportiness and riding pleasure. The company says that this tire not only excels in sport performance but also offers durability for daily riders and those embarking on long-distance motorcycle trips. Michelin Power 6 reportedly offers impressive grip in dry and wet conditions, along with excellent handling and sportiness. It is available in various sizes and is suitable for motorcycles over 300cc. The tire has already received homologation for the new 2024 KTM 390 Duke.
The Michelin Power GP 2 was designed for the track but homologated for road use. Targeting owners of super sports bikes, this evolution of the Michelin Power GP tire reportedly offers superior grip on wet or dry surfaces compared with its predecessor, to enhance the track experience and enable experienced riders to push their limits. Developed by the same team and using the same tools as MotoGP tires, this tire draws on Michelin’s extensive experience with 500 victories in the FIM World Championship.
Completing the line-up is the Michelin Anakee Road, contributing to the Anakee range with a specific trail look. Designed to complement other patterns in the Anakee range for more aggressive off-road use, such as Anakee Wild and Anakee Adventure, the Michelin Anakee Road targets motorcyclists who prefer road riding for long trips and everyday travel. This tire offers high levels of grip in dry and wet conditions, a long service life and good stability.
Agostino Mazzocchi, VP of B2C sales for Michelin Europe North region, said, “We have worked closely with motorcycle manufacturers to ensure that Michelin tires, thanks to their performance, contribute to the riding pleasure of every rider and meet the specificities of the new motorcycle models presented at the EICMA show.
“As a result, we are immensely proud of the development team who have designed these three new products unveiled at the end of the year. Many new tires for different market segments will be unveiled during 2024, all around the world: Michelin Power 6, Power GP 2 and Anakee Road are just the beginning of Michelin’s technical revolution.”
The new Michelin tires have been available for retailers to order since November 2023 and will be sold to customers from January. Press tests will be held in early 2024.
