Retread specialist Marangoni has developed a new tread pattern dedicated to winter driving, the Blackline ICE202 – a 3PMSF drive pattern that has been specially designed for use in severe winter conditions on vehicles operating over long distances.
According to the company, the tread features a bidirectional pattern with a variable block arrangement, open shoulders and deep 3D siping with interlock technology, providing control on surfaces covered with ice and snow, even compact.
It says that the wide opening of the shoulders keeps the tread free of any snow and ice, while also aiding traction. Meanwhile, the interlock sipes assure tread stability during service, to maximize traction and minimize the heat build-up. Reinforcing bridges on the ribs also provide stability on softer ground (snow, mud), resistance to very aggressive road surfaces (ice) and more regular wear.
As with the rest of the company’s Blackline range, the tread ring features a compound that it says ensures better rebound at low temperatures and reduced rolling resistance, as well as longer treads rubber life in extremely stressful conditions.
