Nokian Tyres and Arctic Trucks, a specialist in the conversion of 4WD vehicles, have teamed-up to develop the Hakkapeliitta 44.
This rubber weighs approximately 70kg and has a diameter just over 1m. Despite its robust size, the tire is said to move with ease through deep snow.
“The middle section of the tread pattern features very sharp v-shaped angles that are optimized for cleaning the grooves from snow and slush. The width of the tread as well as the tire’s maximum airspace both guarantee that the tire moves efficiently even on a soft surface,” explained Kalle Kaivonen, R&D manager at Nokian Heavy Tyres.
The tire is available in size LT475/70 R17 and is designed for Arctic Trucks’s heavy SUV 4WD vehicles. Production of the tire will begin within the next few months and it will be available exclusively through Arctic Trucks.
