Hankook has announced the latest addition to its Kinergy line, the all-season Kinergy XP. The tire is first grand touring tire in the product line tailored to SUVs and sedans and will be available first in North America.
The new all-season performance compound of this tire features advanced silica, which Hankook states results in a 6% improvement in wet handling and 2% in wet braking, compared to its predecessor.
The tire has an increased sipe density, 3D sipes, and beveled edges on shoulder grooves. The manufacturer reports this has led to a 15% improvement in snow acceleration and a 14% improvement in snow braking compared to its predecessor.
Hankook says the tire has an extended tread life of up to 20%, due to its Corvex Tread Radius Technology, flexible materials for even wear, and an optimized foot shape.
“All-season tires need to perform reliably in a variety of weather and road conditions,” said Rob Williams, senior VP of Hankook Tire America Corp.
“Our latest all-season grand touring tire, Kinergy XP, is designed to do just that – with improved wet and snow braking performance. In addition to these handling enhancements, drivers can look forward to enjoying a more comfortable and quiet ride with longer tread life that we’re backing with a 75,000-mile warranty.”
Kinergy XP is available in North America in 41 sizes ranging from 16in to 20in, with additional sizes set to be introduced later.
