Goodyear has been chosen to develop a tire for Lancia’s latest concept vehicle, the Pu+Ra HPE. The all-electric concept car represents the car maker’s vision of design, sustainability, electrification and technology.
The bespoke tire from Goodyear features a Lancia-specific sidewall design that works in conjunction with the Pu+Ra HPE’s rim design to deliver a pleasing aesthetic.
The sidewall delivers very high aerodynamic performance to enhance energy efficiency. Furthermore, the tire has been designed with a special construction to ensure it can handle the instantaneous torque of the electric vehicle.
“This year Goodyear celebrates its 125th anniversary, so this is a fantastic moment to partner with Lancia for the rebirth of their iconic brand, bringing two pioneers of the automotive world back together in a moment of glory,” explained Laurent Colantonio, senior director technology consumer, EMEA at Goodyear. “We are thrilled to have worked on this concept tire, which made us think outside of the box regarding customization, aerodynamics and design.
“It was essential to marry our technical expertise with Lancia’s so we could produce a seamless tire and rim combination that enhanced energy efficiency while remaining aesthetically pleasing.”
