Firestone has unveiled its EV-ready summer van tire for light commercial vehicles. Dubbed the Vanhawk 3, the new tire replaces the Vanhawk 2 and promises to deliver longer mileage, improved fuel efficiency and enhanced wet braking.
In contrast to the Vanhawk 2, the new tire reportedly provides 13% more mileage, a 10% reduction in rolling resistance and a 13% improvement in wet braking. This means the Firestone Vanhawk 3 has been awarded EU label B-grades for wet grip and fuel efficiency in selected sizes.
Underpinning the Vanhawk 3 is Enliten technology – Firestone’s innovative approach to tire development. This delivers improved wear efficiency and additional mileage thanks to an increased tread depth.
Optimized energy dissipation and an enhanced compound ensure low dissipation during tire rolling, which contributes to improved fuel efficiency. Optimized grooves and sipe distribution maximize water evacuation and the enhanced compound improves grip.
“The Firestone Vanhawk 3 is for professionals and private van drivers who are looking to invest in a durable and cost-efficient tire,” said Stefano Sanchini, vice president of consumer replacement at Bridgestone EMEA.
Developed in Europe, the Vanhawk 3 is available in sizes ranging from 15 inch to 17 inch in 20 short sizes and 23 long sizes – meeting over 95% of demand. Firestone says the tire will be launched in January 2025 and will be available across Europe.
