The Firestone FD694 drive tire for long-haul and regional truck applications has been launched by Bridgestone. The company’s latest benefits from a proven tread pattern and casing which work in tandem to deliver a long service life and performance in a range of weather scenarios.
Additional benefits of the FD694 include a deep tread pattern with a high rigidity and a solid shoulder to ensure even wear, while the tire’s wear-resistant compound ensures more miles before replacement. Bridgestone has engineered the cap and base compound to enhance the product’s chance of retreadability by protecting the casing against heat.
The casing has also been designed to fight uneven wear and also features stone rejector platforms to defend against penetrating hazards. Furthermore, a wide shoulder and center grooves provide grip on wet surfaces.
The Firestone FD694 can also be paired with Bandag retreads to reduce the tire’s environmental impact and operating costs for users. The tire is available in a size 295/75R22.5, with three additional sizes consisting (11R22.5, 11R24.5 and 285/75R24.5) coming soon.
“Long-haul and regional trucking fleets face a unique set of challenges: varied weather patterns, unpredictable roadways and pressure to efficiently deliver goods on time,” said Chris Tavares, executive director, commercial marketing, Bridgestone Americas.
“With the FD694, we set out to build a tire that offers more of everything for fleets of any size. The FD694 is designed to work harder to deliver more wear resistance, more durability and more traction in all conditions, all with the trusted Firestone brand.”
