The SportSmart Mk3 tire from Dunlop is to be made available in a 160/60ZR17 size, which will fit 85 models of mid-size sports bikes from a variety of manufacturers.
The tire features a multi-tread (MT) pattern that Dunlop states enables it to warm-up rapidly and evacuate water from within the tread pattern effectively. Additionally, a high surface area (HSA) silica compound is employed to enhance the flexibility of the tire at low temperatures to improve durability and wet weather grip, ensuring a wide operating range.
Dunlop says its Dynamic Front Formula (DFF) design process was implemented when creating the tire, a process that enabled its engineers to tune the parameters of the tire to suit intended use on a wide range of different manufacturer models.
Dmitri Talboom, product manager at Dunlop Motorcycle EMEA, said, “Two years on from its launch, we are pleased to have made our popular SportSmart Mk3 rear tire available in a new size that will enable more riders than ever before to benefit from what’s possible with these tires. Having a reach of 20 manufacturers, this new rear size is a testament to the tire’s versatility and performance.
“Using feedback from our partners and test team, our expert engineers have continued to develop this product to ensure it is as dynamic as the rapidly evolving hyper-sport and super-naked markets themselves.”
