Dunlop has entered the all-season market with a three-peak mountain snowflake-certified tire, the Sport All Season, which it claims provides good handling and braking performance across a wide temperature range.
“The Dunlop Sport All Season is a product that is designed to offer premium performance for mild winter climates,” said Mike Rytokoski, chief marketing officer, Europe at Goodyear. “With a three-peak mountain snowflake certification, the Sport All Season will cope with all weather conditions – dry, wet, and snowy.”
Part of the Goodyear brand portfolio, Dunlop benefitted from the parent company’s knowledge for its entry into the all-season segment, with Goodyear having recently launched its Vector 4Seasons Gen-3.
According to Dunlop, the tire concept employs a rib-design, as well as three important features. Firstly, the tire’s strong belt and overlay package provides support when cornering by providing better stability. Coupled with this, the tread design delivers strong braking performance on wet surfaces, thanks to high-capacity longitudinal grooves and radial edges, which are said to accelerate water evacuation from the contact patch. Finally, the tire features what Dunlop calls a weather-flex compound, a multifunctional polymer blend that keeps its flexibility across a wide temperature range.
Dunlop says the new range will feature 31 SKUs to be launched starting in October 2020, covering tires from 14in to 18in.
