Manufacturer Bridgestone Americas (Bridgestone) has launched a new premium touring tire, the Bridgestone DriveGuard Plus.
Stated to have best-in-class run-flat technology, the touring tire enables vehicles to travel up to 50 miles at up to 80km/h after a puncture occurs.
The all-season tire features 3D full depth sipe technology to improve performance in wet and wintery conditions, in addition to an asymmetric tread pattern and an inboard rib design to deliver excellent handling characteristics and less road noise.
Compared to the previous Bridgestone DriveGuard tire, the DriveGuard Plus benefits from a 12% improvement in corner hydroplane resistance when new, an 8% improvement in corner hydroplane resistance when worn and a 40ft shorter stopping distance in snow. Additionally, the latest tire accelerates 5% faster than a Michelin Primacy Tour A/S tire.
“When we were designing the next generation of the Bridgestone DriveGuard tire, our goal was to produce a run-flat tire that significantly reduces the trade-offs that consumers may expect,” said Mirella Cielo, president, consumer replacement tire sales and marketing, Bridgestone Americas. “The DriveGuard Plus is an important step toward providing more drivers with extended mobility to help improve their journey.”
The new tire line is available in the USA and Canada and has been designed for fitment to sedans and crossover vehicles such as the Audi Q3 or BMW 3 Series.
