Goodyear has introduced the Cooper Discoverer Stronghold all-terrain (AT) tire, the latest addition to the Cooper Discoverer family.
This all-terrain tire is designed to provide durability, quiet comfort and improved grip, which the company says makes it suitable for various surfaces and conditions, including snow, as indicated by its Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMS) designation.
The company says the tire’s design meets the snow traction standard set by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
The tire is built for tough terrain and heavy loads, and provides reliable traction and stability, Goodyear says. Its 3D sipe technology in the shoulders enhances stability during cornering, while wide open grooves in the tread offer solid traction on dirt, gravel and other soft surfaces.
Key features of the AT tire include solid traction in dirt and gravel, with wide open grooves and narrower center grooves to provide stability. The tire’s strong shoulder design, including scooped tread edges and sidewall hook patterns, is designed to ensure lasting grip and traction. Strategically designed tread lugs help resist cracking and stone retention, while a specialized rubber compound and wide lateral grooves have been designed to enhance water evacuation and snow traction.
“The Cooper Discoverer Stronghold AT is built strong to help you harness your vehicle’s full potential with a unique tread designed to resist cutting, cracking and tearing to help ensure you can get the job done every time,” said Jim Reese, director of category strategy and planning at Goodyear. “This tire is just as tough as the predecessor, but with improvements in handling on dirt and gravel, improved treadwear and enhanced winter traction to meet you and your vehicle’s needs.”
Continuing the legacy of the Cooper Discoverer series, the Stronghold AT comes with a 96,000km treadwear limited warranty and a 45-day test drive guarantee. It is available in 28 sizes, with rim diameters ranging from 16in to 20in.
