The VF TractorMaster from Continental is now available in size VF900/60R42 and measures 2,147mm in diameter. Weighing in at 450kg and with a load index of 10,300kg, the tire has been designed to carry large agricultural machinery outputting more than 300hp.
As costs rise, so too does the pressure on farmers and the agricultural sector to transport ever-growing loads in a shorter period of time, resulting in an increased demand for powerful agricultural machinery.
“This development not only demands top performance from machines, but also from their tires,” said Benjamin Hübner, product line manager for agricultural tires at Continental. “That is why we develop and test our agricultural tires in close consultation with our customers.”
Designed using Continental’s VF technology, the VF900/60R42 can be driven with 40% more load at the same tire pressure as a standard tire, or 40% less tire pressure at the same load. Additionally, the VF technology enables more fuel-efficient operation than can be achieved with standard tractor tires.
“The VF TractorMaster combines efficiency and soil preservation,” explained Hübner. “The VF technology allows for a smooth transition from field to road without having to adjust the tire pressure, yet the impact of heavy machinery on the soil is minimized by a wider tread surface when working in the field.”
