The ExtremeContact XC7 is designed to enhance travel safety and comfort, Continental says. With ContiSeal technology, a sticky viscous sealant layer inside the tire closes up damage up to 5mm in diameter, instantly addressing 80% of punctures. The company says this self-sealing capability remains effective across temperatures from -35℃ to 70℃ throughout the tire’s lifespan.
The ContiSilent technology is designed reduces tire cavity noise using built-in polyurethane foam, while the sealant layer minimizes vibrations caused by deformation, which, Continental says, reduces noise across various frequency ranges for a quieter ride.
In response to the specific needs of the Chinese market, Continental Tires has partnered with Tuhu, China’s largest online auto retail platform, to launch the ExtremeContact XC7 exclusively on the Tuhu platform. This collaboration leverages Tuhu’s extensive user base and insights into consumer demands for travel safety and comfort.
“With the debut of ExtremeContact XC7, it can improve the drivers a safer and more comfortable driving experience to the next level. One of the core technologies applied to this new product, ContiSeal Self-Sealing Technology, continuously guards the safety of users and is widely recognized in the world,” said Tolga Mutlu, head of product management, Continental Tires APAC.
The ExtremeContact XC7 also addresses safety concerns in wet conditions, which are common in many regions of China. The tire features Aqua Channel Advanced surface sipes for improved water drainage and grip on wet roads. Continental says that the tire’s zig-zag serrated grooves and Blade Edge Pattern design further enhance wet grip performance by reducing slippage.
The tire is available in sizes ranging from 17in to 20in and fits luxury cars and SUVs.
