Continental has announced updates to the Conti EcoPlus tire range, aimed at fleet operators and commercial vehicles.
The Conti EcoPlus HS3+ and Conti EcoPlus HD3+ tires for steer and drive axles will be added to the company’s portfolio this July, available in size 315/70 22.5, with more sizes coming in October.
The steer-axle tire is claimed to provide a 7% reduction in rolling resistance compared with its predecessor, achieved by utilizing a revised tread and sidewall compound and an optimized base compound.
“With the product line update, we have further improved the durability, robustness and mileage of this tire line,” explained Hinnerk Kaiser, head of tire development bus and truck tires, Continental.
The drive-axle tire also benefits from a 12% reduction in rolling resistance compared with a previous iteration of the tire. In addition to compound updates, Continental says it has managed to reduce deformation in the tire’s sidewall and bead area, helping to further improve rolling resistance.
Continental is also set to offer customers a CO2 and fuel consumption calculator that utilizes its VECTO simulation tool. This will enable fleet operators to choose the right tires, and consequently reduce vehicle emissions and fuel consumption.
Continental plans to add a Conti EcoPlus HT3+ tire for trailer axles to the range over the next year.
