American Tire Distributors (ATD) and TIS Wheels have announced the launch of a co-branded utility terrain vehicle (UTV) tire called the TIS UT1 by Hercules. It marks the first time that Hercules Tires, a subsidiary of ATD, has offered a UTV tire.
The UTV and side-by-side vehicle tire was designed to enable customers to drive vehicles off-road across challenging terrains such as sand, loose rocks, silt, gravel and soil.
The eight-ply-rated tire features an aggressive all-terrain pattern with a balanced void ratio and biting edges on the tread blocks to provide a high level of traction on changing surfaces. A dual compound between the tread and shoulder extends tread life and improves the tire’s ability to crawl over rocks. The TIS UT1’s optimized tread design provides lateral stability, good handling and control when accelerating and braking.
A scalloped shoulder lug design incorporates elongated stone ejectors to reduce stone retention and drilling, in addition to inclined deep and wide grooves in the tread to enhance traction and debris cleaning capability.
Furthermore, a dual buttress design with extended bolstered shoulder lugs adds sidewall impact resistance and allows consumers to customize their vehicle with different designs on each side of the tire.
“Introducing a new UTV tire fits Hercules Tires’ strategy of expanding our portfolio to continue to be the one-stop shop for consumers seeking a replacement tire,” commented Josh Simpson, senior vice president, ATD. “Not only are consumers continuing to look for a tire that will confidently match the performance of their vehicle regardless of the terrain, but more and more consumers want to customize their vehicles and require a tire that will complement the look and personality of their vehicle as well. These tires provide the ability to create a custom user experience.”
The tire is also suitable for application to unmanned combat vehicles, recreational utility vehicles and surface recon vehicles.
The TIS UT1 will be available in the first quarter of 2022.
