The new V-Steel Port Container Straddle (VPCS) radial tire from Bridgestone – developed for straddle containers used within ports terminals and intermodal yards – benefits from an enhanced load capacity and durability to deliver efficiency and a longer service life.
The VPCS tire features a newly designed tread pattern and a casing with improved durability to deliver a 22% longer service life compared to a previous similar tire from the manufacturer. Other notable features include a high-strength casing design which enables vehicles fitted with the tire to carry heavier loads; and a “Cooler Running Tire Design” that enabling vehicles to travel at higher speeds, resulting in enhanced efficiency within port operations.
At present, the Bridgestone VPCS radial tire is available in two sizes – a 450/95R25 and a 480/95R25.
“Ports face unique challenges and need equipment that remains productive in virtually any kind of condition, 24 hours a day and seven days a week,” said Rob Seibert, president, Off the Road, USA and Canada, Bridgestone Americas. “With the VPCS, our team of engineers set out to design a tire that meets these challenges head-on and keep our world’s supply chain moving forward.”
