Bridgestone has expanded its Potenza range with the addition of the Potenza Sport AS, its latest ultra-high performance all-season tire. The Sport AS has been developed to provide “confident handling and responsive grip”, in addition to wet performance and enhanced winter capabilities.
The Potenza Sport AS –manufactured in North America – is Bridgestone’s first UHP AS tire to feature its Enliten technology, which was engineered to optimize all-season performance while providing longer wear life. For the Sport AS, this core technology includes a tread compound designed to deliver increased performance and wear life.
The tire is also Bridgestone’s first UHP tire to incorporate PeakLife, the company’s next-generation polymer technology, which is stated to enhance tread resistance to wear, extending service life. PeakLife features a new compound and a polymer developed by engineers and scientists at Bridgestone’s Americas Technology Center in Akron, Ohio.
Additional features of the Potenza Sport AS include a co-developed compound and tread, designed to deliver maximum performance in a range of climates. This consists of an asymmetrical pattern and a solid rib design to enhance handling while simultaneously reducing tread pattern noise. An array of slots and grooves also work to improve water evacuation, while full-depth 3D, ultra-thin interlocking sipes provide biting edges for handling in wintery conditions.
The Potenza Sport AS is currently available in 48 initial sizes with 28 further sizes scheduled for launch in 2024. The 76 sizes will suit rim diameters between 16in and 22in.
“Inspired by our rich history and expertise in motorsports, the Bridgestone Potenza Sport AS tire was created to provide the same ultra-high performance that enthusiast drivers expect from a spirited driving experience, including a quiet, comfortable ride, but with wet and winter capabilities that will keep them in command of the road year-round.”
