Bridgestone Americas has announced it is to expand its Ecopia commercial truck tire line with the new R213 version.
This latest tire has been designed and produced to reduce the operating costs of commercial vehicles by providing what is claimed to be the highest fuel efficiency ever offered by one of the company’s long-haul steer tires, alongside improvements in wear performance attributes.
“Today’s fleets are running their trucks longer and farther, making it critical to get maximum performance out of every tire purchase,” commented Kyle Chen, brand manager, truck and bus radial tires, US and Canada, Bridgestone Americas. “The new tire harnesses major innovations in both materials and design to deliver smarter, more sustainable tire performance. This translates to a better bottom line through the tire’s exceptional wear life and outstanding fuel efficiency.”
The company notes that directional edge sipes resist scrub scenarios and offer up to 15% more mileage. In addition, the tread pattern has been redesigned and a new compound material helps to reduce overall weight. Rolling resistance has also been improved alongside a 6% increase in fuel efficiency.
Other notable changes include a four-rib tire design with a patented NanoPro-Tech polymer tread to limit energy loss and enhance stiffness for increased fuel efficiency. Furthermore, directional stress-relief sipes have been developed to absorb shoulder edge forces for improved durability.
Currently available in the US and Canada, the Bridgestone R213 Ecopia tire will be offered to customers in eight variations made up of four sizes and two load ranges per size. The tire is also EPA SmartWay verified.
