BKT has launched a giant version of its Earthmax SR 46 tire for rigid dump trucks operating in mines, dams and large worksites. It is the largest size that BKT has ever made: 33.00 R 51, with a diameter of over 3m and weighing 2,400kg.
BKT notes that the Earthmax range is designed for the toughest operations and to facilitate the best possible ground load distribution for dump trucks, wheel loaders, dozers and graders. The tires are distinguished by their all-steel structure, which provides high resistance to impacts.
The Earthmax range covers three models: the SR 45, 46 and 53. The SR 45 and 46 are designed specifically for dump-truck applications, with the latter featuring a revised tread block design and deeper tread, claimed to provide an extended lifecycle. The SR 53 is targeted at loader applications and features a highly cut-resistant compound and a tread geometry intended to provide rapid self-cleaning.
BKT says the addition of the new giant size is a strategic choice, driven by what the company sees as changing trends within the OHT market.
