Apollo Tyres Europe has launched its next-generation truck trailer tire, the EnduRace RT2. Building on the features of its predecessor, the EnduRace RT, the regional trailer tire is to be produced in Europe and has been specifically designed for medium- and long-distance commercial truck trailers.
Apollo states that the company’s latest tire has 15% more grip than the EnduRace RT. Providing outstanding grip in wet and wintery conditions, the tire has also achieved the 3PMSF rating for its good handling characteristics in snow.
Due to an improved tread compound that aids in reducing surface abrasion and heat buildup, the trailer tire benefits from increased mileage performance, enhanced durability and reduced rolling resistance.
The tire also features an optimized ply casing that enables it to be re-treaded. Furthermore, a wider contact area allows for uniform pressure distribution and contributes to even tire wear. The reinforced casing is claimed to be 1.7 times more durable than the European regulatory requirement.
“This is an extremely competitive segment in the European truck tire market, and we have committed significant resources and expertise in research and development to ensure the new EnduRace RT2 meets the needs of the most demanding user,” commented John Nikhil Joy, cluster director Europe, truck and bus tires at Apollo Tyres.
Alongside the trailer tire, Apollo is launching a truck tire, the EnduRace RD2, in size 315/80 R22.5. Dubbed a regional drive tire, it features a new groove tread pattern that incorporates Apollo’s own Hidden Groove Technology with Multi Edge shoulder blocks, which the manufacturer says gives improved snow grip and performance on slippery roads.
“We know how big an impact tires can have on fleet operating costs,” explained Joy. “While we have made significant improvements to grip and traction in all conditions with the EnduRace RD2 tire, we have also focused on durability and rolling resistance – and, of course, we understand the importance of affordability. The EnduRace RT2 and RD2 offer Tier 1 performance and class-best value for money in Europe.”
