Apollo Tyres has launched the second generation of its EnduRace RA 2 truck tire for regional transportation, featuring a new tread design and uprated materials with the aim of delivering improved grip throughout the year, lower rolling resistance and improved durability.
The new tire is available in 315/70 size for 22.5in rims and Apollo says it has been comprehensively re-engineered to deliver an average 5% increase in mileage.
The EnduRace RA 2 has been developed and manufactured in Europe and features a compact new tread design with a wider contact area than its predecessor. The revised compound has improved abrasion properties, while the modified bead construction and the integration of low hysteresis material on the high-stress region of the tire provide more protection against deformation under load.
“We launched the first generation of the EnduRace RA in 2021. Since then, the tire has grown in popularity among medium and long-distance hauliers across Europe,” said John Nikhil Joy, cluster director Europe – truck and bus tires at Apollo Tyres.
“Meanwhile, we have stepped up our investment in truck tire research and development, which has been guided by direct feedback from our customers. That has enabled us to accelerate the introduction of innovations in design and materials – the result is a new RA product that stands apart in this highly competitive segment.”
Apollo says that compared to the company’s first-generation RA tire the new one delivers a 10% reduction in rolling resistance and 1dB lower average road noise, while also offering a 10% improvement in traction.
It is also the latest product to feature Apollo Tyres’ Invisible Groove Technology, a groove pattern incorporating multi-edge shoulder blocks for enhanced grip, traction and durability throughout the lifespan of the tire. It also facilitates improved handling across a range of challenging surfaces such as snow, and the tire’s severe weather capabilities have been certified with the three-peak mountain snowflake mark.
