Nokian Tyres has launched the Remedy WRG5, the sixth generation of its all-weather tire line.
According to the tire maker, the tire provides year-round traction, maintaining softness in cold weather and offering a secure grip on various road surfaces, and its asymmetrical tread pattern is designed to enable smooth navigation through snow, rain and slush.
Designed for passenger vehicles, SUVs and crossovers, the Remedy WRG5 is produced in Nokian Tyres’ factory in Dayton, Tennessee, which is expected to reach full production capacity of four million tires annually this year. Available exclusively in North America, the tire will be released this spring and offered in over 70 sizes ranging from 15in to 20in.
The tire offers a treadwear warranty of 60,000 miles as well as puncture-resistant Aramid fibers that are incorporated in all sizes and a Pothole Protection warranty.
Many drivers are unaware that all-season tires are not built for snow, slush or temperatures below 45°F (7°C), Nokian states, referencing an April 2022 YouGov poll to say that “only 30% of Americans correctly named the biggest advantage of year-round all-weather tires – safety in winter – versus all-season tires”.
“All-weather tires are a true four-season driving solution for drivers who visit winter or have winter visit them,” said Nokian Tyres North America director of products Steve Bourassa.
“Unlike all-season tires, the Nokian Tyres Remedy WRG5 is built to withstand moderate winter weather without sacrificing safety in other seasons.”
