Manufacturer Kumho has been selected as the official tire supplier for the TCR Europe race series starting from 2022.
The tire manufacturer will provide teams with its dry weather ECSTA S700 and the wet weather ECSTA W701 competition tires. Under the supply arrangement, Kumho will also supply its products to TCR Spain, TCR Eastern Europe and TCR Denmark.
First launched in 2015, the TCR series feature mass-produced touring cars with 2.0-liter turbocharged engines capable of up to 350bhp. Hosted by World Sporting Consulting (WSC), the motorsport competitions adhere to rules set out by the FIA.
“We are delighted to be making this announcement and I am looking forward to working with Kumho this season,” commented Paulo Ferreira, TCR Europe promoter. “Having a single tire across a range of TCR series makes total sense for both organizers and competitors, and I think it shows great foresight by Kumho to work with WSC and series promoters in the production of a bespoke TCR tire.”
“Kumho is happy to participate in the new partnership with the WSC Group,” said Tony Gangseung Lee, senior vice president, global marketing, Kumho Tire. “We will use this partnership to enhance our motorsport technology image and brand recognition in the global marketplace.”
